Bill Wilkey received his BFA from East Tennessee State University and his MFA from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was featured as an Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly in 2014. He then joined the Archie Bray Foundation as the 2014 Lincoln Fellow and continued on to be the 2015 Lillstreet Art Center Fellow.

Wilkey's functional pottery is made with an architectural aesthetic and he uses atmospheric firing processes to finish the surfaces. In his work, Wilkey thinks about how, as a potter, the act of crafting an object can lead to the object existing beyond the maker's own intention, allowing the maker to be a part of someone’s daily ritual or individual escape.
 

Wilkey continues to contribute to the ceramics community by teaching classes and leading workshops across the country. He has also built two soda kilns for the Archie Bray Foundation. He currently practices from his home studio in Helena, Montana and exhibits his work nationally.
