
Intermediate/Advanced Wheel Throwing

Service Description
Join us as we work on leveling up our wheel throwing skills and diving further into understanding the potter's wheel! Students can expect to expand their wheel throwing knowledge and focus on the intricacies of finger placement beyond the standard positions. Advanced positions, knuckle/palm/and alternative pulling techniques, centering strategies for large amounts of clay, throwing additional sections on pots, torching pots, and difficult-to-throw forms, such as bottles, will be discussed and broken down for students to understand. The cost of this course is $310. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and have options for paying the remainder in-person. To Bring: Notebook/Sketchbook and writing utensil Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15 if needed. If students would prefer to bring in tools for class on their own, the following will be required for this class: a metal rib, wooden rib, needle tool, wire tool, sponge, wooden knife, fettling knife, and trimming tools. Additional Costs: Glazing and firing fee: $35 One bag of clay is included in the class cost. Students are advised to purchase a torch for class which we will go over on day one, however they are welcomed to use studio heat guns as well. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired. Modest wheel throwing experience is required for this class. All experience levels will benefit from this course as it is focused on the intricacies of throwing as well as speciality and advanced throwing techniques. Ages 16+ Pay As You Go: Please note, you pay a $100 deposit when you book this course. If you do not pay the remaining $210 for the course at the first class, we do offer payment plans. However, the price per class increases to $58 each class. The deposit amount will be put towards your last 2 classes in this case. Refunds are not available once the course has begun. Cancellation Policy
Bookings for classes, workshops, events, and private lessons which are canceled 7 calendar days or more prior to the class or event will receive a full refund. Any cancellations received 7-3 days prior will receive a 50% refund. Any and all cancellations 2 days or less before the class/course are not eligible for a refund. Cancellations which are at least 24 hours prior to the class may transfer their booking to another applicable date or find a substitute student to take their place. If you need to cancel after the 7 day window, please contact the store. Wooten Clayworks cannot reschedule with less than 24 hours notice due to the inability to fill the space that was taken from another potential student. Please note there is a 2 student minimum for classes to run. Students will be notified the day prior if the class has to be cancelled and will receive a full refund.
