Dallas Wooten

Studio and Gallery Director 

 

Potter, Educator, and Founder of Wooten Clayworks       

Dallas Wooten was born in Louisville, KY, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics from Indiana University Southeast, right across the river. Upon graduating, he attended Ohio University’s graduate program. Dallas completed his Masters in Fine Arts from OU in 2020. Following his time at OU, Wooten was a long-term Artist-in-Residence at Hope Center for Arts and Technology, Inc., where he taught classes at HopeCAT as well as Youngstown State University. Recently, Wooten has been awarded as a 2022 Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist. Dallas founded Wooten Clayworks in 2020 and currently works full time there and out of his studio in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where he works as a studio artist. When he's not working, he enjoys playing games, hanging out with his friends, and spending time with his cats.

Rachael Bailey

Drawer, Painter, Designer, and Writer

Rachael was born in Louisville, KY. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Drawing and Painting from Indiana University Southeast in 2018. Since then, she has taught classes at several different Art Centers, performed as the Art Curator at a small gallery, and worked independently as a graphic designer. She has had 7 solo exhibitions in addition to being included in numerous group and juried exhibitions. Rachael works independently as a fine artist from her home studio and has been a part of the Wooten Clayworks team from the beginning. Outside of work and the studio, Rachael enjoys gardening, writing, and spending time with her 3 cats.

Taylor Sijan

Potter and Craftswoman

Taylor Sijan is a full-time studio potter originally from Ohio. She earned a BFA in 3-D Arts from Bowling Green State University (2016) and an MFA with ceramics emphasis from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2021). In 2020, Taylor was named one of Ceramics Monthly’s Emerging Artists. These days, she enjoys traveling to teach techniques to students and has demonstrated at institutions, including Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, Gasworks NYC, and Saratoga Clay Arts Center. When she’s not in the studio, she is usually gardening, hiking, or spending time with her two cats.

Alex Carros

Apprentice

Potter, Photographer, Videographer, and Multi-Media Artist

Alex currently resides in Hackettstown, NJ with his wife and daughter. He served in the US Navy from 2016 – 2020 as a shipboard machinist, and upon honorable discharge continued his education in mechanical engineering. Alex has independently studied art and design throughout his life, which lead him to take a pottery class in 2021. He currently apprentices under Dallas Wooten and serves as a new addition to Wooten Clayworks. Experimenting with piercing forms, patterning and kinetic objects, he draws inspiration from esoteric and occult motifs. In his free time he enjoys exploring local parks and trail systems with his family, riding his bike and taking photos.

Sarah Caudill

Potter, Educator

Sarah was born and raised in Ohio. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green University in 2017. She has been exploring the world of ceramics for many years, experimenting with various techniques. Currently, she is
exploring textile design elements within her work. In pursuit of her artistic goals, she will be moving to New Jersey to join Wooten Clayworks. Beyond her love for pottery, she is also a dedicated music fan, with a deep appreciation for a wide range of musical genres. In recent years, Sarah has worked as a staff member at a school and has developed a genuine enthusiasm for helping create a learning environment for children that is supportive and safe.

Joshua Thomerson

Musician, Entrepreneur, and Business Consultant

Josh is a seasoned professional who was born and raised in Louisville, KY. He developed a keen interest in global sourcing from a young age and joined the family business at 24. He quickly made a name for himself and rose through the ranks to other challenging roles in sourcing and product management for industry leaders such as doTerra & Prinova. Today ,he serves as the Senior Vice President for one of the largest raw material manufacturers in the Flavor & Fragrance industry - PT Van Aroma. Outside of work, Josh is an accomplished guitarist who has been passionate about music from a young age. He spends his free time practicing and creating music, consistently pushing the boundaries of the acoustic genre. 

Victoria Thomerson

Entrepreneur and Business Consultant

Victoria was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the age of 21, she moved to California, where she finished her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and completed a Professional Designation degree in Merchandise Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. In 2013, she reconnected with her roots and entered the Flavor and Fragrance Industry, wholesaling essential oils produced in Bulgaria. In 2017, together with Josh, she started a distribution arm for one of the biggest producers of Bulgarian essential oils – Triglav-Edelvais. In 2020, she founded Felt So Good Soap with Rachael Bailey by her side - a company that offers handcrafted felted soap bars with intricate designs. In her free time, Victoria loves to spend time with her friends, travel, hike, sing, and go ballroom dancing with Josh.
