Service Description

Let your ideas take shape by learning how to sculpt with clay in this six week, skill-building course! There are no assignments (unless you really want one!), so it is recommended that you arrive with a couple of ideas in mind. Students will be guided through a variety of methods on how to manipulate clay into 3D sculptures or vessels using handbuilding techniques like coil building, slab building, and pinch potting. This hands-on course is designed for beginner and experienced ceramicists alike. Each student will have the option to create a couple unique vessels or sculptures depending on their interests and project complexity. Shaping forms with paddles and trimming, applying texture, and how to dry the piece will be taught in this course. The cost of this course is $310. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and have options for paying the remainder in-person. To Bring: Notebook/Sketchbook and writing utensil Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15 if needed. If students would prefer to bring in tools for class on their own, the following will be required for this class: a metal rib, wooden rib, needle tool, wire tool, sponge, wooden knife, fettling knife, and trimming tools. Additional Costs: Glazing and firing fee: $35 One bag of clay is included in the class cost. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired. Certain glazes/techniques may have an upcharge. All skill levels are welcome. Ages 16+ Pay As You Go: Please note, you pay a $100 deposit when you book this course.
