Service Description
In this class, we will explore the intricacies of various pottery sets! During this course, students will be encouraged to bring in imagery and ideas of pottery sets they wish to explore. Sets may include, but are not restricted to, teapots, cup and saucer, nesting bowls, liquor, dinnerware/place settings and more! Demonstration for specific individual vessels, such as teapots, will be limited. This class focuses more on creative ways to group and tie vessels together in a cohesive manner and challenge makers to delve deeper into the specifics of their sets to better inform them. This may be in the form of historical references or personal narratives. Topics covered will include various approaches to tray/pedestal making, how to throw consistent forms, and design techniques to create cohesive sets, nuances of pottery design and grouped vessels. The cost of this course is $300. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and have options for paying the remainder in-person. To Bring: Notebook/sketchbook and writing utensil. Laptop or smart device for research. Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Your favorite pottery tools. Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15. Additional Costs: Glazing and firing fee: $35 One bag of clay is included in the class cost. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired.
