Intro/Intermediate Wheel Throwing
Learn and expand upon the general techniques of wheel throwing, trimming, slip application, and glazing during this studio course! Students will be guided through the basics of wheel throwing to begin exploring their artistic visions with instructor guidance. They will explore the basic forms of the pottery wheel, such as cylinders, cups, mugs, and bowls. Simple surface decoration techniques will be covered as well.

Beginning Portrait Drawing
Learn how to draw the human portrait and capture the image of those you love and admire! Over the span of this class, students will learn the average proportions of the human face to use in mapping out the features of specific subjects, how to form normal facial features of the face with shapes and shading, and how to identify the diversion of these standards to accurately capture their subject’s image. These techniques will be used over a range of drawings, from mirror-informed self portraits to reference photos of other people!
6 Week Session:

Reductive Decoration Techniques
Carving, water etching, and slip-inlay can produce some of the most beautiful decorative surfaces in ceramics. This is an intro through advanced friendly course that explores a range of decorative techniques that Dallas has honed over the years. This course will explore traditional line carving, low relief carving, Mishima/slip inlay, and traditional water etching/water carving techniques.
6 Week Session:

Pots that Pour - Intermediate Throwing
In this skill-building course, students will learn how to create a variety of spouts for pouring pots such as pitchers, creamers, teapots, and more. Handbuilding and throwing techniques will both be used in this class and students will have the opportunity to make their own spout molds and templates. Special emphasis will be placed on spout design and refinement so they pour well.
