Intro/Intermediate Wheel Throwing
Learn and expand upon the general techniques of wheel throwing, trimming, slip application, and glazing during this 6-week course! Students will be guided through the basics of wheel throwing to begin exploring their artistic visions with instructor guidance. They will explore the basic forms of the pottery wheel, such as cylinders, cups, mugs, and bowls. Simple surface decoration techniques will be covered as well.

Sets & Repeating Forms!
In this class, we will explore the intricacies of various pottery sets! Sets may include, but are not restricted to, teapots, cup and saucer, nesting bowls, liquor, dinnerware/place settings and more! Topics covered will include various approaches to tray/pedestal making, how to throw consistent forms, and design techniques to create cohesive sets, nuances of pottery design and grouped vessels.

Slips, Englobes, Sigillata, & Washes
Learn techniques to add tactility, color, and matte or burnished finishes to your pieces in this specialty decoration course! Students will explore colored versions of slip, englobes, terra sigillata (fine particle slip), and oxide washes.Makers will be shown how to put their new materials to use with techniques for crafting ornate surfaces through inlaying, carving, slip trailing, burnishing, and painting with oxide washes to make textures pop!

Intro & Intermediate Ceramic Sculpture
Students will be guided through a variety of methods on how to manipulate clay into 3D sculptures or vessels using handbuilding techniques like coil building, slab building, and pinch potting! This hands-on course is designed for beginner and experienced ceramicists alike. Each student will have the option to create a couple unique vessels or sculptures depending on their interests and project complexity.

An Introduction to Drawing
During this class, students will be shown how to use the sight-size method to visually measure what they see in life and translate it to 2D paper. They will learn about light sources, value and tone, depth and form, as well as perspective and dimension. All of these skills are useful for artists of any mediums, whether to better help you understand how to bring your 2D designs to life in the 3D, understanding forms in space, working to make surfaces more dynamic, or simply to learn how to draw!
