Service Description

In this class, students will explore a variety of ways to throw and alter composite forms (pieces made from multiple components), learning creative ways to make serving vessels, baskets, vases, creative jars, flasks, and more! This is a fun and exciting class designed to expand students' ability to make larger pieces and innovative shapes beyond the round that is typically associated with the wheel. Students can expect to explore various altering, throwing, dissecting, assembling, and combining thrown or hand-built components to make exciting new forms! Some wheel throwing experience is recommended for basic shape making; however, students make choose to primarily hand-build if they would like. The cost of this course is $315. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and have options for paying the remainder in-person. To Bring: Notebook/Sketchbook and writing utensil Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15 if needed. If students would prefer to bring in tools for class on their own, the following will be required for this class: a metal rib, wooden rib, needle tool, wire tool, sponge, wooden knife, fettling knife, and trimming tools. Additional Costs: Glazing and firing fee: $35 One bag of clay is included in the class cost. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired. Certain glazes/techniques may have an upcharge. Intermediate level. Students should arrive comfortable with basic wheel throwing skills (centering, pulling walls, trimming) to get the most out of this course, but it is okay if you are still gaining confidence! Ages 16+ Pay As You Go: Please note, you pay a $100 deposit when you book this course. If you do not pay the remaining $200 for the course at the first class, we do offer payment plans. However, the price per class increases to $58 each class. The deposit amount will be put towards your last 2 classes in this case. Refunds are not available once the course has begun. Payment plans are available for members and long term students. We do our best to work with the community to offer them quality ceramic education and resources.

Cancellation Policy

Bookings for classes, workshops, events, and private lessons which are canceled 7 calendar days or more prior to the class or event will receive a full refund. Any cancellations received 7-3 days prior will receive a 50% refund. Any and all cancellations 2 days or less before the class/course are not eligible for a refund. Cancellations which are at least 24 hours prior to the class may transfer their booking to another applicable date or find a substitute student to take their place. If you need to cancel after the 7 day window, please contact the store. Wooten Clayworks cannot reschedule with less than 24 hours notice due to the inability to fill the space that was taken from another potential student. Please note there is a 2 student minimum for classes to run. Students will be notified the day prior if the class has to be cancelled and will receive a full refund.
