About the Event
Looking to upgrade your surface game? In this two-hour virtual workshop, potter Taylor Sijan will demonstrate how she creates tactile surfaces on soft-to-leatherhard porcelain!
Taylor creates beautiful, tactile pottery with multiple layers of slip and glaze. Her decorative process entails strategically impressing and
incising the surface of her work using handmade stamps and X-acto knives. She uses thick porcelain slip-trailing to build up raised botanical patterns across the surface of her work.
In this workshop, Taylor will walk students through her her use of tools and material to create such lush, visceral surfaces. She will show students how she makes her stamps, plans out her surfaces, and applies slip patterning. She will also go over how she addresses common accidents that occur during her decoration process as she thoughtfully refines leatherhard trailing to appear elegant and intentional.
This workshop is suitable for artists of all levels!
A previous recording of this workshop will be available post-workshop for 1 month upon receiving the link. For more information on editing times, please visit our FAQ page.
