About the Event
Please join Dallas Wooten as he walks us through his water etching and surface processes! Wooten creates stunning and tactile surfaces on his vessels utilizing an array of layered textures and processes. This workshop will explore his approach to water etching as well as traditional methods of this surface technique.
During this workshop, Wooten will discuss:
-The best forms for the processes
-Creating and utilizing an array of unique tools for different kinds of water etching
-A variety of textural surfaces
-How to streamline the processes
-Timing of materials to achieve different effects
-Appropriate clays for water etching
-Different kinds of resists used in water etching
-How to utilize technology and analog approaches in water etching
-How to simplify making colored clays
Wooten will share examples of different approaches to water etching while discussing what forms are most appropriate for different techniques. The workshop will begin with a short presentation of Wooten's work and influences and include handouts and a detailed material list.
This workshop contains a variety of information for artists of all levels and questions are encouraged! Bring a snack, favorite beverage, and be ready to learn!
