Service Description

The total cost of this course is $330. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and pay the remainder of the class fee the first day of class. Payment plans are available upon arrangement. Join us in the studio as we explore the colorful side of porcelain! Dallas Wooten will guide students through testing, mixing, as well as various usage techniques of colored porcelain. Students will be guided through the process of creating their own colored porcelain slips, and we will collectively review results as a group to make a broad color pallet for makers to try out. This course will cover a variety of decorative and layering techniques incorporating uses for colored porcelain, such as agateware and marbled clay, inlaid slips or mishima, and creating simple nerikomi blocks to create colorful patterned slabs. We will create several colored slips which students can use collectively; however, additional material costs may be incurred for students that wish to use larger quantities or specific colors. Please note that porcelain is more expensive than most stoneware clays as well as the colorants and materials needed in this course.
