Service Description

Join us in the studio and learn the basics of working with porcelain in this specialized 3 week session! Dallas Wooten has been working primarily with porcelain for over 16 years and will impart a variety of conventional and developed techniques for both throwing and hand-building. Students will learn a cursory overview of what porcelain is as a material and how it differs from other clays. Everything from material composition, preparing the clay, throwing properties, trimming, attachments, cleanup, preferred tools, and even reclaiming porcelain will be discussed. The cost of this course is $175. Students pay an online deposit of $100 to register and pay the remainder of the class fee the first day of class. To Bring: -Notebook/Sketchbook and writing utensil -Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15 if needed. Basic throwing tools and your favorites will be needed for this course. Additional Costs: Glazing and Firing Fee - $25 10 lbs of Kota porcelain is included in the class cost. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired. This is a stacked class introducing students how to work with porcelain. Throwing assistance and instruction will be provided, however this class is not intended for people who have never worked with clay before. Complete beginner throwing tutorial cannot be covered due to the short class duration. Ages 16+. For ages 12-15, please send us an inquiry to see if class admittance is allowable (based on total enrollment to ensure assistance can be provided.) Cancellation Policy

Bookings for classes, workshops, events, and private lessons which are canceled 7 calendar days or more prior to the class or event will receive a full refund. Any cancellations received 7-3 days prior will receive a 50% refund. Any and all cancellations 2 days or less before the class/course are not eligible for a refund. Cancellations which are at least 24 hours prior to the class may transfer their booking to another applicable date or find a substitute student to take their place. If you need to cancel after the 7 day window, please contact the store. Wooten Clayworks cannot reschedule with less than 24 hours notice due to the inability to fill the space that was taken from another potential student. Please note there is a 2 student minimum for classes to run. Students will be notified the day prior if the class has to be cancelled and will receive a full refund.
